Why did they name it “Jagarico”?

First of all, potato is called “Jagaimo (じゃがいも, ジャガイモ)” in Japanese. According to Calbee’s official website, the product tester’s name is “Rikako (りかこ)” who loved this new creation. They combined those names and came up with the new name “Jagarico (じゃがりこ)”.

Personaly, this name feels right because “gari” sounds like what I hear eating Jagarico.

Salad Jagarico Review

Jagarico Salad Review

This is one of the very first 2 flavors of Jagarico. The name of the flavor is “Salad” but only 3 kinds of vegetables are in it, potatoes, carrots and parsleys. We can see some green bits on the surface of the sticks. The natural flavor of potatoes and the mild sweetness of carrots are balanced well.

Butter Jagarico Review

Butter Jagarico Review

This “じゃがバター” is 1 of the potato dish flavors that got released from 2002 to 2004 but it became a regular flavor now. The simple dish “じゃがバター” is baked potatoes with butter.

The north island of Japan Hokkaido(北海道) is known for dairy, so the package says that they use Hokkaido butter.

It tastes very mild and there is no big impact but you can enjoy the most rich flavor of butter right before you swallow it. You also see the green parsley bits on the surface.
